Old Whittington sits 2 miles from the market town of Chesterfield which has a theatre, multiplex cinema, restaurants, markets and a Crooked Spire . Stepping into nature walks from your doorstep including access to Wild Whittington a project to re wild the local landscape. The Revolution House stands at the entrance to the lane, a thatched former Inn where in 1688 noble plotters devised a plan to invite William of Orange to claim the Protestant throne of England. It now houses a small museum with a pub next door. Travelling into the Peak District, Chatsworth is just 8 miles away. For a darker delve into history, visit the plague village of Eyam, just over 14 miles away, to explore its sad past. Hardwick and Renishaw Halls and Bolsover Castle are among other local attractions. The cottage is perfectly located for exploring both nature and history locally and a little further afield. The property itself is in a row of four standing in an elevated position screened from the lane by a large beech hedge. It has recently undergone a complete back to brick renovation in 2023 and offers beautiful light and comfortable accommodation, with lovely colour accents of greens and sages throughout. Enter via the back door to be met with a well equipped kitchen with a dining area for four people. The original stone mantle over the fireplace creates a lovely feature, and there is lots of light in this space which also offers a stable style door onto the garden where you can open the top part and keep the lower part closed. The kitchen leads into a cosy living room, with a large window and a door leading to the front garden and plenty of soft seating to enjoy a cosy evening in. Walking upstairs, there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The views from the front bedroom are of open countryside and the moors beyond and the back bedroom enjoys peaceful views of the gardens. Outside there is a shed where bikes can be stored and a small seating area nestled in the mature garden where you can relax outside after a day exploring.
