Outside, there is a small enclosed courtyard with furniture, where you can let the dogs out in safety, whilst roadside parking can be found on a first-come, first-served basis. Wayside Cottage is a perfect base for couples seeking a romantic retreat within easy reach of the many attractions of North East England. Please no smoking in cottage or courtyard.
The pretty Teesdale village of Staindrop has always been closely associated with the fortunes of nearby Raby Castle and its owners. Staindrop has many interesting shops, pubs and cafes set round its long village green. The popular market town of Barnard Castle is 5 miles away, with its castle, the Bowes Museum, plus of course its wide range of shops and tea rooms. Walkers will enjoy the many walks around Teesdale.
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
