The old market town of Ludlow is nestled on the River Teme, amidst the outstanding countryside of the Welsh Marches. The town is home to a fascinating display of architecture, with its 900-year-old castle, one of the first to be built in England, along with more than 500 listed buildings. The castle is open all year round and hosts a range of events, including outdoor theatre, food, art and literature festivals. Millenium Green sits below the castle and offers a large riverside green and weir, plus excellent indoor and outdoor dining facilities via the Green Café, located right on the riverside. Ludlow boasts many fantastic eateries, as well as a number of exclusive boutique-style clothes and gift shops. Ludlow is within easy reach of Church Stretton, Shrewsbury and Hereford, as well as popular attractions such as World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge, Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle and Cardingmill Valley.

A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
