In the picturesque South Hams region of South Devon, the bustling small town of Kingsbridge is located at the head of a saltwater estuary. Salcombe, one of the nicest towns in South Devon, is located on the banks of the Kingsbridge Estuary and offers estuary excursions by ferry during the summer months. Salcombe is well-known for its breathtaking coastal vistas, gently undulating terrain, and watersports haven for kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, and powerboating. Many individual manufacturers, high-end retailers, restaurants offering recently caught fish, and stores selling Salcombe Gin and ice cream may be found there. The South Devon Heritage Coast and this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) are both best enjoyed from Kingsbridge, which is ideally situated as a base. Tourists can stroll along Kingsbridge Quay, explore the winding lanes off Fore Street, or go to Totnes' Shambles, an Elizabethan market arcade.
