Swanage is a small family-friendly beach town on the Island of Purbeck in Dorset, on the eastern end of the world-famous Jurassic Coast. The town is well-known for its annual jazz festival, held in July, and is also home to many stores, nice taverns, and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood. The picturesque Victorian wooden pier is a popular starting point for divers and a nice area to go for a stroll or try your hand at fishing. Swanage is the final stop of the Swanage Railway, a classic steam engine route that regularly takes passengers on a 6-mile excursion through gorgeous scenery to a stop just beyond the romantic ruins of Corfe Castle. Durlston Country Park is conveniently located nearby and makes for a delightful day trip with its breathtaking coastline walks, opportunities to sight dolphins and other animals, and well-equipped observation stations and cafe. You may take the regular chain ferry from the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks, or you can take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the best beaches in the country and is surrounded by heathland. At any time of year, you might have a fantastic holiday here.

Explore the fossils and stunning beaches of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, visit historic Sherborne and Shaftesbury, or enjoy the footpaths, country lanes and thatched-roof pubs Dorset offers.
