Located southern Scotland, Dalbeattie is a lovely country town. An idyllic valley on the River Urr provides a convenient gateway to the Solway Coast, a stretch of pristine beaches and charming fishing communities. In the past, Dalbeattie's granite quarry was used to build landmarks around the world, such as the Eddystone Lighthouse and the Thames Embankment. The 7stanes mountain bike complex is just a short drive away, as well as wooded trails in Glentrool, where Richard Hannay made his way in The Thirty-Nine Steps. The Solway Firth, the Lake District, and the Galloway Hills may be seen from Dalbeattie and the surrounding area. There's a lot to do here, and it's wonderful for families.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
