This small market town in Shropshire has a welcoming and quaint feel to it. Nestled just north of the Shropshire Hills AONB, close to the borders of Wales and England, it is the ideal base for touring a wonderful region of Britain. This town serves as the administrative hub for Shropshire Council's northern area committee, and it features a town hall, train station, real ale pubs, cosy cafes, and welcoming restaurants, as well as a few specialty shops brimming with delights. This is an ideal place to visit if you enjoy walking, as there are many trails and routes that will take you through picturesque scenery.
A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
