The flourishing village of Yarpole is situated in the lovely Herefordshire countryside, halfway between Ludlow and Leominster. Yarpole has an award-winning village shop, the first full-time shop in a church, as mentioned in the Doomesday Book. Bircher Common, a lowland heath with excellent views of the neighbouring Marches and ideal for enjoying the calm and tranquillity of the area, is just a short walk from the settlement. Enjoy an afternoon visit to the Monkland Cheese Dairy, which is a working dairy that produces and sells local, artisan cheeses and has a well-stocked shop and cafe. The Priory Church, as well as a variety of shops, cafes, antique shops, and pubs, make Leominster a great destination to spend an afternoon.
A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Short breaks may still be available.
