Sleights is a great destination for both coastal and rural vacations. It is situated on the edge of the stunning North Yorkshire moors country, which is popular with hikers and bikers, and is only 4 miles from the lovely Yorkshire coastline. Sleights has a pub, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop, a butcher's, a bakery, a hair salon, and a post office inside a Spar store, despite being a quiet town. The end of the North Yorkshire Steam Railway is only a short drive away, and Sleights is served by frequent public transportation to and from the adjacent port of Whitby. Whitby, which is located at the mouth of the River Esk, is in a prime location for exploring this stunning region of Yorkshire. It is an eerie village with narrow alleyways and secret passageways, a lovely harbour, secure sandy beaches, and, of course, the abbey, which is accessible via the fabled 199 steps.
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
