Holt, a village on the Welsh/English border, was established in 1282 on the banks of the River Dee, 10 miles from Chester. For centuries, the Holt Bridge served as a significant crossing point between Wales and England at Farndon. A door of the majestic St. Chad's Church has the scars of musket fire, a remnant of the many battles fought here. Holt is an attractive community because of its small village green, its local taverns and stores, and the ruins of Holt Castle, which were built in 1284. Farndon, the English village on the other side of the river, is a great place to visit if you're looking for some great souvenirs and a friendly place to unwind with your loved ones. The Roman city of Chester is home to a renowned shopping district known as The Rows, a prestigious zoo, and a lively racetrack. Snowdonia National Park is only a couple of hours away, making it a great day trip destination for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Holt serves as an excellent home base from which to explore the rest of this breathtaking and fascinating area.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
