Roose, also known as Roosecote, is a charming neighbourhood and ward of Barrow-in-Furness and a great place to start for people looking for a quiet escape in Cumbria. Since "roose" is a Celtic term for "moor" or "heath," this area should have no shortage of places to observe the natural world. There is a lot to discover both in the immediate vicinity and farther afield in the region that includes Piel Island, Roa Island, Rampside, and Stank. The neighbourhood is served by the Roose railway station, one of the few remaining stops on the Furness Line in the Barrow area, as well as a variety of pubs and stores that cater to all tastes and are great for any self-catered visit. The nearby town of Barrow-in-Furness offers a greater range of entertainment options, including a cinema, the Dock Museum where you can discover the fascinating local history, a golf course, a lovely beach, and much more.
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
