Church Stretton is a charming market town in the heart of Shropshire's hill country, surrounded by beautiful natural features. Along with the magnificent Stokesay Castle, other nearby attractions include the Acton Scott Working Farm, the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, and the Long Mynd, which offers excellent hiking. Beautiful architecture and interesting sights can be found in the nearby historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, and Bishops Castle.
A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
