The market town, Blandford Forum is located by the River Stour in the English county of Dorset. Most of the renowned Georgian-style town was rebuilt in the 18th century after it was completely destroyed by fire in 1731. With ideas by nearby architects John and William Bastard, King George II donated money to reconstruct the town centre. An annual celebration of its Georgian roots, the Blandford Georgian Fayre takes place in the first week of May and features speeches, historical re-enactments, music, and dance. The late Bank Holiday weekend is when the Great Dorset Steam Fair, one of the town's greatest events, takes place. A festival with approximately 2,000 displays that are mostly colourful and an old-fashioned steam funfair. with a variety of independent shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, cafés, and a Georgian tearoom.
