The charming, former mining community of Bettws is located in Bridgend, in the South Wales Valleys, beside the River Ogmore. The village is charming and modest, surrounded by lovely scenery, and is a fantastic starting point for exploring the nearby towns and South Wales' coastline. St David's Church, a convenience shop, a bar and a pathway leading to Bryngarw Country Park, one of the best parks in the UK, are all located in the settlement. With a setting that ranges from woodlands to wetlands, meadows to formal gardens, it provides a sanctuary for visitors and wildlife on 100 acres of park land. A more populated town with a nearby train station, a wide variety of restaurants and stores, as well as historical landmarks including Newcastle Castle, St. John's House Trust, and Newbridge fields with lots of trails and ruins to find, Bridgend is immediately south of Bettws.
