The English seaside town of Scarborough has been welcoming holiday makers for many yearsand still retains many of its original fine buildings. The North Bay has a safe, sandy beach whilst the golden sands of South Bay are broken by a rocky headland on which stands Scarborough Castle. The castle was built in the reign of King Stephen and has had a rich and varied history, making it well worth exploring. Peasholm Park has a beautiful lake where all sorts of boats can be hired from rowing boats to dragon headed pedalos, and visitors can while away the time messing about on the water. There are many attractions in and around this lovely seaside town, and with its wide range of restaurants, cafés and shops, Scarborough is a marvellous centre for a family holiday.
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
