Oakworth, a little Pennine village near Haworth that overlooks the Worth Valley, shot to fame when E.E. Nesbitt's The Railway Children was adapted into a great 1970 film. Oakworth is conveniently located near both Haworth and the moors, and it also boasts a beautiful ornamental park and quick access to Keighley. The nearby town of Haworth was the home of the literary Bront sisters, who found plenty of material for their works in the area's expansive moorland. Against the backdrop of the countryside made famous in the novel Wuthering Heights, Haworth is home to a plethora of curiosity and antique shops, lanes, and cobblestone streets that create a great historical ambiance. The old village of Oxenhope is not far away, and the Worth Valley Railway, a genuine steam railway made famous by the film The Railway Children, provides for a delightful day trip. The Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail are just a few of the many popular attractions in the neighbourhood. Skipton, known as the "Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales," is only a short drive away. Similarly close by are Harrogate's magnificent Victorian architecture, as well as the modern energy of both Leeds and Manchester.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
