Within the town you will also find a 12th-century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. Within the surrounding area you will find superb walks with Cleveland Way starting in Helmsley.
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
