The Shooting Folly is as unique a holiday home that we have ever come across. Standing in the middle of the Shropshire farmland and with views over fields over fields and woods, it is romantic as the setting. Dating back to the 19th Century, once believed to be an old shooting lodge, the building retains features such as crenelated mock church tower at one end, a stepped gable at the other, and a timber thatched cottage in between. To create a very homely hideaway, the house contains many mod cons, including a Cedar Hot Tub. Please note Charcoal BBQ available - only charcoal to be used due to Cottage being Thatched. The only bedroom features a double bed with views across the countryside, with a separate WC, and the kitchen is smart and made of solid oak with a granite work surface; it’s well equipped with electric hob, oven and microwave. Guests will be sure to enjoy their time at The Shooting Folly.

The Shooting Folly is on the edge of a small village, but a few miles from the totally gorgeous village of Cheswardine, which is relatively untouched and a typical Shropshire village. There are two pubs nearby, both recommended by the owners – The Fox & Hounds is two miles away and The Wharf Tavern sits right on the canal.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
